Florence is famous for its grandiose architecture,
stunning art collections and vibrant atmosphere but, more than
anything else, for history. History of art, history of culture,
the history of Italy contained in one small but unforgettable city.
A walking tour west of the hotel, as you can see from the map above,
takes you to the famous Duomo within a few minutes.
This identifiable orange dome is the most impressive
and most famous symbol of Florence. Built by Brunelleschi in the
15th century, the dome’s internal and external design features contributions
by many famous artists and sculptors, including the great Michelangelo
himself.
A short walk then brings us south, through Piazza
Signoria and
eventually to the famous Uffizi Gallery – home
to some of the most priceless works of art in the world and one
of the most spectacular views of the cityscape.
